Volunteer for the 2016 Los Angeles Homeless Count

The Los Angeles Homeless Count in Echo Park takes place on the night of January 28, 2016. The Homeless Count is a 3-day, on the ground, county-wide census of its neediest stakeholders. This timely data drives federal funding assistance and provides valuable information to City and County legislators to help allocate local funding assistance.

Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell’s District Office will serve as a volunteer deployment site. Residents are advised that LAHSA will be aided by thousands of volunteers across the City, who will be walking or driving in groups to take the census block by block.

As coordinators of this important event, the EPIA urges you to participate! Volunteers can register for the 2016 Homeless Count at www.TheyCountWillYou.org. Questions or concerns can be directed to Jonathan Hans at LAHSA at jhans@lahsa.org.

Double your impact – LA River matching challenge ends December 31

Donate to the LA River Corp and double your impact by December 31!!

Local business owners Tony Yanow and Amy Yanow have put up a challenge: Give today and they will personally match your donation up to $250,000. The goal is to raise $500,000 total toward the Integrated Design Vision Project led by Frank Gehry and technical partners.

More info on the campaign from the LA River Corp website:

Leave a Lasting Legacy
It all begins with a data driven, integrated design study of the full 51 miles from Canoga Park to Long Beach. Led by Gehry Partners and other design and technical experts, we are utilizing the latest technology and design analysis to find the most innovative ways to transform the river into a sustainable water resource while creating vibrant public and natural habitat spaces along the river’s path. This study will result in a shared community vision for implementation; a vision that is both transformative and sustainable.

Imagine the Possibilities
With just $590,000 left to get to our $3.1million goal to launch Phase One of our 51-mile Integrated Design Study of the LA River, we are in the home stretch. There has never been a better time to give to the river. Let’s do this!

Consider a personally significant contribution as a year-end, tax-deductible gift…and let Amy and Tony double it today!
